Andrew Burgess, Consulting Director at Orbys

Andrew is the Consulting Director at Orbys, a specialist management consultancy focusing on all aspects of sourcing including legal, IT and finance outsourcing. Since joining Orbys over 9 years ago, he has developed and implemented sourcing strategies for global organisations, running sourcing programs and helping re-organise IT departments to maximise their value from outsourcing. Recently he has become a leading expert in the growing Legal Process Outsourcing market.

Andrew combines many years of experience working as a Management Consultant with strong strategy and change management skills. He has worked with many blue-chip clients to extract maximum value and provide delivery assurance for major outsourcing programmes.

Andrew’s career includes roles as the CTO for the corporate venturing unit of R&SA, the IT Director of More Group (part of Clear Channel Communications), and Programme Manager for Alexander Proudfoot PLC, advising clients across the world on change management. Andrew also set up and helped run the internal management consultancy team for Bank of Scotland.

Chris Thornton, Principal Consultant at Orbys

Chris has over 25 years experience in IT services including 11 years in outsourcing. His significant experience in the development of sourcing strategies and the structuring of outsourcing deals gives an in-depth supplier side knowledge of bid and deal preparation, development of cost benefit and business cases, and wide-ranging knowledge of the implementation of outsourcing strategies and the realization.

Prior to joining Orbys, Chris held senior Business Development roles at ITNET, a leading UK IT and BPO outsourcer, subsequently acquired by Serco, where he was responsible for developing relationships in sectors including Financial Services, Transport, Energy, Leisure and Professional Services.

Chris is responsible for developing new and existing client relationships across a range of sectors, as well as working on advisory assignments for clients.

John Gorrell, Principal Consultant at Orbys

John has over 10 years of experience in business development, IT outsourcing, business finance and planning, accounting and strategic planning and negotiation.

Prior to joining Orbys, John provided a range of outsourcing and financial advice to Europe’s largest automotive logistics company, which in turn provides outsourced logistics to other sectors including rail, IT manufacturers, health and defence.

Iain Allan, Principal Consultant at Orbys

Iain has over 28 years experience working in finance management and IT Services, holding a number of senior positions with organizations in the Oil, Utilities, Manufacturing and Automotive sectors.

Prior to joining Orbys, since 1998, Iain’s particular experience lies within a wide range of sectors, delivering a range of interim and consulting assignments where, through structuring and reviewing outsourcing deals, business process re-engineering and organizational change, he has demonstrated an ability to project manage and deliver significant cost savings and service improvements to IT and Finance functions.

With Orbys Iain’s responsibilities working on assignments with our clients have led to a number of initiatives; aligning outsourcing deals with business strategy and setting up the processes and relationships to ensure that these outsourcing and shared service arrangements meet the business needs and achieve the planned benefits.

Norman Humphrey, Principal Consultant at Orbys

Norman is an IT Outsourcing technical and commercial specialist who, over the years, has helped several major enterprises with business change, specifically with IT sourcing solutions for business and IT infrastructure, including: business process outsourcing, transition management, due diligence and business change consultancy. He has achieved this by working very closely with clients, ‘living-within their business’ and thus gaining an accurate insight into where the business issues were and then developing programmes to meet the challenges.

A committed and highly motivated individual with a will to succeed combined with an extensive knowledge of Outsource services, contract development, SLA development and change processes plus the ability to get results from people has facilitated the achievement of business objectives for clients. Prior to joining Orbys, Norman performed a number of roles at LogicaCMG focusing on account management, business development and transition of outsourcing services, primarily to Public, Telecommunications and Utilities sector clients. For Orbys’s clients, Norman has: developed and negotiated outsource contracts, procured outsource services, developed outsource solutions and bid managed responses for complex outsource solutions.

John Hetherington, Principal Consultant at Orbys

John Hetherington  is an experienced principal consultant and senior manager with over 26 years experience in IT and more than 16 years track record in sourcing services within a broad spectrum of market sectors including oil & gas, finance, banking, retail, distribution, utilities, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, government, travel, manufacturing and mobile communications.

John has assisted clients to define and deliver a number of outsourced solutions in IT, procurement, distribution, facilities and payroll.

He has experience of working with both outsourcing vendors and client organisations and having previously worked as service planning manager and a member of vendor bid teams.

John has knowledge and experience in both onshore and offshore outsourcing solutions delivering and reviewing offshore outsourcing relationships for the provision of applications development and support services for infrastructure.
